Project Overview

Funding provided by this grant will allow TSS to acquire tools for better willow planting and supplies for students to monitor Spring and Cody Creek where the One Fly supported Phase One. After years of harvesting and replanting willows, TSS knows that efforts to maintain Spring and Cody Creek for Snake-River fine spotted cutthroat trout habitat can be improved. Incremental improvements in willow planting over the years have been limited by a lack of proper tools and resources. Additionally, funding of new testing kits will better link student-stewardship to the necessary monitoring and field science education. This work will help achieve our goals of continuing to increase the cutthroat population back to a healthy and sustainable level while also engaging students in a meaningful way to build the pipeline of future stewards of cutthroat trout.
