The goal of the Tincup Floodplain Reconnect Project is to restore complexity and habitat to the stream. Tincup Creek is a Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout (YCT) stream but this section is deeply incised, with steep banks and erosion. The Forest Service will strengthen existing beaver dams so they are more able to withstand high flows and will reconnect the stream with the floodplains creating multiple channels with high and low flows. Research has shown that streams with connected floodplains and multiple channels are much more productive for fish and wildlife.
